Critically ill Chiefs coach awake
Critically ill Chiefs assistant coach Andrew Strawbridge is awake and talking but still remains in a serious condition at Waikato Hospital.
Despite not being out of the woods, Strawbridge has been talking to medical staff and to his wife Laura and sister Susan. He has asked his wife for a text message to be sent to Dr Dave Galler in Samoa, thanking him and his team for saving him and helping him get home alive.
Strawbridge was admitted to Moto'otua National Hospital in Samoa on two weeks after taking ill during his flight to Samoa with an infection in his right eye which deteriorated rapidly.
He was joining the Manu Samoa campaign for the All Blacks Test and was due to leave with the squad for the Pacific Nations Cup in the United States and Canada.
The Manu Samoan team who are currently in San Jose have sent a special video for Andrew Strawbridge, which has been received with great joy by the family and will also be shown to Strawbridge.
