Injuries lead to ref reshuffling

Two referees have had to withdraw from the first round of Super 15 matches this weekend – Bryce Lawrence who was to have refereed the first match of 2011 Super Rugby and Steve Walsh who was to have refereed the last match of the weekend. Both are injured.

Stuart Dickinson of Australia will thus referee Friday’s opening match between the Hurricanes and the Highlanders in Wellington.

In Durban Craig Joubert replaces Steve Walsh for the match between the Sharks and the Cheetahs. In that match Pro Legoete now takes the place of James Leckie (Australia) as the assistant referee who would take over from the main referee in the case of accident.

In Johannesburg Joey Salmans replaces Jaco Peyper as the assistant referee for the match between the Lions and their neighbours the Bulls.
