NPC: South reigns over North
The Southland Stags won a brilliant contest against a red hot Northland side 36-34 at Invercargill on Saturday.
The hard-fought victory saw the Stags turn around a poor recent run to put themselves back into NPC Championship contention.
It looked like Northland had done enough in a relatively even contest, but with one minute left, despite the Taniwha thinking they were about to win their third straight, Lolohea Loco broke the visitor’s hearts.
Auckland pulled away from Bay of Plenty in the second half of their match, running in two tries to Lolagi Visinia and the boot of Gareth Anscombe allowed them to keep the points ticking over.
Bay of Plenty were held scoreless in the second half, struggling to get any possession or territory and will be disappointed with their poor discipline which allowed the Auckland advantage to keep growing.
