US Embassy rolls out the welcome mat for the Springboks
The U.S. Consulate General in Johannesburg has welcomed the Springboks ahead of their historic trip to the United States later this year, describing the occasion as a landmark moment for the sport.
In a social media post, the embassy wished the world champions well as they prepare to face the All Blacks at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 12, in the fourth and final Test of the 2026 Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series.
“History is coming to Baltimore!” the post began before adding: “Good luck, Bokke! We can’t wait to welcome the players and South African rugby fans to the United States for this landmark moment in the sport.”

The embassy also highlighted the significance of the fixture, noting it will be the first-ever Springboks versus All Blacks Test played on American soil.
It will mark only the Springboks’ third visit to the United States this century, following matches against the USA Eagles in Houston in 2001 and Wales in Washington, D.C., in 2018.
The Baltimore showdown is expected to be one of the biggest rugby events ever staged in the United States, with thousands of South African and New Zealand supporters expected to descend on Maryland for the historic clash.
