Concussed duo worry Wales

Wales will be sweating over the fitness of a few key players ahead of next week's crucial Six Nations Round Two encounter with Scotland.

Wales travel to Edinburgh having top beat the plucky Scott, following their bitterly disappopinting 16-21 loss at home to England on Friday – after they raced into an early 10-0 lead, only to drop their tempo and allow England to squeeze past them.

Of bigger concern will be the concussion of wing George North, despite the flyer showing no adverse reaction after suffering twop brutal blows to the hear in Cardiff.

"He [North] passed head injury protocol tests that were carried out in the medical room, in addition to an on pitch assessment," the Welsh medical team said ina media release on Saturday.

"He also showed no signs and symptoms when follow up tests were carried out immediately after the game."

However, while the wing is currently symptom free, the medical staff said that a "retrospective video review" of the second incident identified the mechanism of the injury which was previously unsighted on the field of play.

"This review has warranted the medical team to manage the player as 'concussed', although the player currently has no signs and symptoms.

"He will now undertake a graduated return to play protocol with multiple follow up cognitive and physical tests."

North left the field for eight minutes during the first half but returned to the fray, missing a tackle on England centre Jonathan Joseph before he crossed for his team's second try.

Also of big concern is prop Samson Lee, who suffered a concussion.

"Samson Lee will also be undertaking a graduated return to play protocol, consisting of a number of cognitive and physical tests prior to returning to training," the statement said.

Flyhalf Dan Biggar sustained a cut head and fullback Leigh Halfpenny a minor neck injury.

Biggar will be managed accordingly in the build up to the Scotland fixture.

Halfpenny's injury is unlikely to keep the player out for the following week's fixture.
