Attention!!! Local v International Springbok backline

OPINION: With the Springboks only in action later this year, we at Rugby365 decided to dabble in some friendly competition between the editorial and admin team.

The two parties were assigned to select a local v international Springbok backline.

While we may not agree on much, one thing is certain: South Africa is packed with immense talent.

The Rugby365 Editorial team selected a starting Springbok backline made of locally based players.

Editorial has chosen Sharks star Aphelele Fassi at fullback.

Fassi will be supported by Bulls utility back Canan Moodie and Sharks-bound Edwill van der Merwe on the right and left wings, respectively.

In the middle, veterans Lukhanyo Am and strong ball-carrier André Esterhuizen will be the centres.

The 2023 World Cup winner, Grant Williams, will wear the No.9 jersey. He partners with rising superstar Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu in the halfback combination.

The Admin team, on the other hand, has gone with a very experienced backline. Faf de Klerk is at scrumhalf, while Bulls-bound Handré Pollard slots in at flyhalf.

Taking centre stage are none other than Jesse Kriel and Damian de Allende, who hold the record for the most appearances as a midfield combination in the Springbok jersey.

There are also a surprise or two in the back three, with superstar Cheslin Kolbe named at fullback.

Dillyn Leyds and Kurt-Lee Arendse will cover the wings.
