AUDIO: Moerat's take on partnership with provincial rival Nortje

LISTEN as Springbok captain Salmaan Moerat speaks about his lock partnership with provincial rival Ruan Nortje.

Moerat addressed the media ahead of the Boks’ rematch with Italy in Gqeberha at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Saturday.

Moerat and Nortjé faced each other on numerous occasions when the Bulls took on the Stormers during the United Rugby Championship.

Both players also had the honour of leading their respective franchises this past URC season.

Now teaming up in green and gold, Moerat had the highest praise for Nortje and said that the two walked a long path together on their journey to become national teammates.

“We’re very good friends.

“We started our playing careers at SA Schools and played SA Under-20 together.

“Then afterwards we had the privilege of wearing the Springbok jersey together as well on a few occasions.

“We’ve had our fair share of being a lock partnership.

“He’s a very good guy and a fantastic leader as well.

“He’s also a fantastic player and takes pride in his work, and I enjoy playing with him.”
