Whilst the game in Cape Town on Saturday, June 28 is a first, there is a long and proud history between the famous invitational club and the World Champions.

That history stretches back to the first clash between the sides in 1952, which was won by South Africa at Cardiff Arms Park.

In all, the Barbarians have won four of the eight meetings between the two sides, with the Springboks picking up three victories.

The most recent outing between the two sides was an epic 31-all draw at Wembley Stadium back in 2016.

The Boks’ last victory over the BaaBaas came way back in December 2000 when the South Africans prevailed by 41-31 in an entertaining clash.

The BaaBaas are currently unbeaten against the Boks in their last three meetings, which consist of two wins and a draw.

The Boks will be wary of the dangers the star-studded invitational side poses and will hope to even out the win-loss ratio against the men in black and white.
