Key area takes centre stage in Bok Women's prep for Canada
SPOTLIGHT: The Springbok Women are spoilt for choice when it comes to the kicking department.
With the 2025 World Cup less than three months away, the Springbok Women’s team have been grinding in training camps.
The team is locked in to make a big statement at the showpiece, which will take place later this year in England.
The Springbok Women will take on Brazil, France, and Italy at the World Cup.
However, before that, the players have to defend their Rugby Africa title in Madagascar, followed by an intense two-Test series against Canada in July.
The Tests against Canada form part of the double-headers with the Springboks versus Italy Test series.

“It is quite amazing to get a chance to play as a curtain-raiser for the Springboks.
“But the match will show us where we are as a team and whether we’ve made a mark in South Africa for people to watch us.
“It is an exciting time and a big honour.”
In regard to the training camps, Cilliers said: “We are focusing on us and how we want to play as a team.
“Obviously, closer to the World Cup, we will start looking at other teams, but for now, we are focusing on ourselves and how we can get better.”

One of the focus areas for the Springbok Women’s squad has been the kicking.
High-performance coach Swys de Bruin revealed that Stormers kicking coach Gavin Wright has assisted the team during their training camp in Stellenbosch earlier this month.
At the moment, centre Cilliers has been incredible from the tee. However, there is another player who is not shy to show her kicking prowess – namely, Libbie Janse van Rensburg.
“We understand each other,” Cilliers said, adding: “Libbie will often kick to touch, take kick-offs and all those types of things. If I get a chance to convert, it’s my time to shine.
“But we understand each other. Obviously, if something happens, Libbie can always step up, and vice versa.”
Sevens star Nadine Roos, Border scrumhalf Eloise Webb, and Bulls Daisies star Byhandre Dolf are the other players who can take on the kicking duties.
The Springbok Women’s next outing is the Rugby Africa Cup. They will open the campaign against Uganda (June 7), followed by matches against Kenya (June 11) and Madagascar (June 15).
