Boland: Swartbooi in for Davids

The Board of Directors of Boland Rugby has decided that Dewey Swartbooi will temporarily act as head coach of the Boland Cavaliers for the remainder of the first division season.

Andries Human will provide assistance as forwards coach of the Boland Cavaliers for this period.

This follows after the suspension of Abe Davids as Head Coach of the Boland Cavaliers, pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation into his alleged coaching qualification.

Davids is said to have falsified his qualifications, stating he had an IRB level Three coaching certificate which has not yet been brought forward.

Swartbooi has been plying his trade with Boland's coaching team as a technical analysist and backline coach until the new appointment.

Swartbooi has been an assistant coach of the Boland Cavaliers since 2012 and represented the Cavaliers as a player from 2006 to 2010.

Previously in his career Swartbooi also played for the Blue Bulls, Lions and Cats in the Super Rugby competition.

In 2002 Swartbooi was also a member of the victorious SA U21 rugby team that won the Junior World Cup tournament along side current Springbok captain Jean de Villiers.

Human played for the Boland Cavaliers from 2001 to 2003 and again from 2006 to 2008. From 2003 to 2006 he was a stalwart for the Blue Bulls in Super Rugby and in 2004 he represented the South Africa A team.
