The awards, hosted by the MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, MEC Matome Chiloane seek to recognise sports excellence on and off the field across the province.

The Daisies are shortlisted for the Team of the Year award alongside sister club and CAF Women’s Champions League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies Football Team, 2024 Domestic T20 and 4-Day cricket champions, the Central Gauteng Lions and Spartans Karate Elite Team.

“The Daisies continue to be exemplary figures and are truly becoming the pride of not only our community but the province too,” comments Thando Manana, BBCo’s Executive for Strategic Projects.

“It is befitting that they are nominated amongst teams who have achieved incredible results over the last year, champions who have conquered their respective sporting codes because the Daisies have been relentless in their pursuit of excellence.

“I hope that they will take time to soak up this latest recognition from such a high office of the province and when they do, I hope they will be inspired to continue grafting hard because they are part of an elite group of local icons who are inspiring others to be dreamers who do.”

There is a total of 19 categories in this year’s event, including the coveted Sport Man and Sport Woman of the Year, Sports Personality of the Year; Sports Journalist of the Year and others.
