Jimmy Stonehouse not on Sharks 'shortlist'
UPDATE: The Sharks’ search for a new coach, to replace John Plumtree, is a long way from reaching its conclusion.
However, James Martin Stonehouse is not on their ‘shortlist’.
This was confirmed by Sharks Director of Rugby Neil Powell.
Back in September, Jimmy Stonehouse, on the eve of the Sharks’ departure for a three-match European trip, was linked to an ‘observers’ role at Kings Park.
Despite all the reports of his involvement, he has not spent a single second with the Sharks.
It has now been confirmed that there was never any formal role for the popular Pumas coach.
Stonehouse indicated that he also no longer has a desire to ‘discuss’ any link with the Kings Park-based franchise.
And Powell confirmed that they never planned a ‘formal’ role for him.

“It was never the intention that Jimmy [Stonehouse] would get involved at the Sharks,” he said.
“He would have spent a week or so with us, even with Plum [John Plumtree] having stepped aside,” Powell said of the much-publicised link between Stonehouse and the Sharks.
He confirmed that JP Pietersen’s appointment is only on an ‘interim’ basis.
“We are looking for a coach who can take the team to the next level.
“The name of Jimmy Stonehouse is not on that list.”
Powell stated that there is no set timeframe for the process to run its course to completion.
