Key players return as Wales coach reveals his hand ahead of Bok Test
SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT: Jac Morgan was included on Monday in an extended 48-man squad for Wales’ end-of-season campaign featuring their inaugural matches in the new Nations Championship.
The British and Irish Lions flanker missed the entire Six Nations after dislocating his shoulder in the 2025 November opener against Argentina, but returned for regional side the Ospreys in March.
Gloucester centre Max Llewellyn and Cardiff lock Teddy Williams also feature in the group selected by Wales coach Steve Tandy after they too were ruled out of the Six Nations because of injury.
But 34-year-old front-rower Tomas Francis, who plays for French second division side Provence, has been rested with a view to the tighthead prop remaining fresh for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
Wales launch their post-season programme with a non-cap international against the invitational Barbarians at Twickenham on June 27.
After that match, Tandy will reduce his squad for games in the cross-hemisphere Nations Championship against Fiji, Argentina and South Africa.
“Some players will finish next weekend and then some might not come into the squad until June 27 so there’s a lot of staggering, that’s the reason for the extended squad,” Tandy said.
“The priorities for us this summer are to keep growing the players, get them up to speed with the conditioning element and also skill development.”
Wales ended a three-year wait for a Six Nations win, and a 15-game losing streak in the Championship, with a 31-17 defeat of Italy in Cardiff in their final game of this season’s tournament in March.
