Leinster boss reveals update on RG Snyman's injury ahead of Tests
SPOTLIGHT: Leinster head coach Leo Cullen has issued an injury update on Monday after his side’s defeat to Munster at Croke Park.
One of the walking wounded will have a spotlight on him from a Springbok point of view.
He comes in the form of powerhouse lock RG Snyman, who left the field just after half-time in his side’s 14-31 defeat on Saturday.
Leinster confirmed that Snyman suffered a hip injury and “he will be further assessed throughout the week before a final decision will be made on his availability” for their URC Round Five clash against Zebre.
Snyman was included in Rassie Erasmus’ end-of-year squad on Monday, and the Bok boss will be hoping for some good news from Dublin.
The Springboks will kick off their series with a match against Japan at Wembley Stadium on November 1.
Meanwhile, Paddy McCarthy and Jordan Larmour have both entered “Graduated Return to Play Protocols” and will be further assessed as the week continues. Robbie Henshaw continues to be monitored after picking up a minor groin issue.
Tommy O’Brien (back) and Jack Conan (knee) were both late withdrawals from the starting XV against Munster, and they will be further assessed this week.
Cullen confirmed that all Leinster players named in last week’s Ireland squad will travel with Andy Farrell’s group to Chicago as planned. Ireland will face the All Blacks on November 1.
