Marx opens up on unwanted record ahead of England clash

SPOTLIGHT: Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx will have some extra motivation heading into Saturday’s clash against England in London.

The 28-year-old has never been part of a Springbok squad that has beaten England at Twickenham.

You will have to go back eight years for the last Bok victory over the English at that venue.

Saturday’s Test will be the Boks’ last outing for the year and Marx said they will be giving their all after some inconsistent performances on tour.

“We gave our best in every Test we played on tour and there were results that went our way and others that didn’t, but we are all excited and very keen to get out there against England,” said the Springbok hooker.

“We haven’t won here in a while, and I’ve never won against them at home, so as a team we are looking forward to this match.”

“We know how good England’s pack is,” said Marx.

“I am not going to tell you what we came up with.

“We worked really hard this week on focussing on ourselves and where we can improve from last week’s game and the games before that.

“We have seen how good England’s pack are and how dominant they have been.
