Mouneimne returns to SA, again
Omar Mouneimne has become the latest addition to the Pumas coaching contingent after he controversially departed from the Eastern Province Kings setup earlier this year.
The Kings were delighted to have him back in the frame after he enjoyed a successful period with them in the 2013 Super Rugby season as their defensive coach.
Mouneimne had apparently entered in a multi-year contract with the Eastern Province Franchise last year after leaving Edinburgh for personal reasons.
After already making a firm commitment to Eastern Province, he decided to take up a consulting role at Lyon in France.
Kings CEO Charl Crous said that the reasons for Mouneimne leaving Edinburgh resulted in him leaving the Kings.
"Unfortunately those same issues [personal issues at Edinburgh] have now resulted in his decision to leave the Kings and South Africa and take up the position in Lyon," Crous said upon his departure.
Mouneimne joined the Kings in 2012 after he had a successful spell with Nick Mallet's Italian national team as the defensive coach in 2010/2011.
Since then Mouneimne has been unsettled, bouncing around different clubs having left the Kings in 2013, followed Allan Solomons to Edinburgh, returned to the Kings at the end of 2014 before leaving them again to take up a coaching consulting position at Lyon, and is now the newly appointed High Performance Coordinator at the Pumas.
Following his appointment Mouneimne said: "I feel that the Pumas have a lot of potential and I am excited about trying to add value to the team and management."
"I am an enthusiastic rugby fanatic and believe, with our combined efforts, the Pumas can reach far higher achievements."
