Rassie sweating over Bok injuries

INJURY UPDATE: Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus could be forced to tweak his Bok squad again ahead of the end-of-year tour.

After Saturday’s 17-28 defeat to the Glasgow Warriors, the Stormers confirmed that utility back Damian Willemse will be going for a scan after he suffered a groin injury in the match.

Willemse, who started in the No.12 jersey, was replaced by Suleiman Hartzenberg in the 37th minute and he is definitely a concern ahead of South Africa’s end-of-year tour in November.

The double World Cup winner was included in Erasmus’ squad earlier this week after he missed the July internationals and the Rugby Championship due to a finger injury.

The Stormers also revealed that Ben-Jason Dixon suffered a knee injury in the first half and he will also be going for a scan.

Flyhalf Manie Libbok suffered a few knocks in the match against Glasgow, but he should be okay for the tour.

Erasmus already made some changes to his original squad selection following the injury withdrawal of utility forward Jan-Hendrik Wessels.

Johan Grobbelaar (hooker) and Wilco Louw (prop) were called up to the Springbok squad as front row replacements.

The Springboks will depart for a training camp in Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands between England and France, on Sunday.

The group will then make the journey to Edinburgh on Sunday, November 3 for their opening Test of the tour.

The Boks will face Scotland in Edinburgh (Sunday, November 10), England in London (Saturday, November 16) and Wales in Cardiff (Saturday, November 23) on their traditional end-of-year tour.
