Roux gets stay of execution
SARU had scheduled a meeting to take place Friday (February 5) to discuss Roux' position.
However, in a terse statement sent by SARU, it stated that "the Executive Council of SA Rugby on Friday adjourned its scheduled February meeting to be resumed on a date to be determined."
Roux has recently been in the news for allegedly misappropriating funds by "manipulating" financial management systems and having used software that does not leave a "audit trail" to favour the rugby programme during his time at the university.
The damning findings from a KPMG audit, resulted in questions over SARU's decision to appoint Roux, despite the controversy surrounding his time at the Stellenbosch.
The alleged transgression occurred over a period of nine years, when Roux had access to the university's financial management system.
The university is suing Roux for ZAR35-million – the amount the they believe Roux used to help fund the Maties Rugby Club.
