SARU silent over Watson's court victory

It was reported on Friday that South Africa's labour court ordered SARU to reappoint the former refereeing boss Andre Watson.

SARU said there would be no immediate reaction to the court ruling.

"[We are] studying [the] judgement," was the curt response from a SARU spokesman when contacted by rugby365.

Watson was sacked as SARU's General Manager of Referees in July 2015, following an investigation in the wake of complaints from within the refereeing structures.

He was accused if having a "dictatorial, strict and abrasive management style".

Watson appealed that ruling and the labour court ruled in his favour.

The ruling means SARU must reverse the sacking and only sanction Watson with a written warning.

Watson must be restored, with immediate effect, to his position at SARU.
