It's Official: Springbok captain Siya Kolisi signs for Stormers
TRANSFER NEWS: Siya Kolisi will be heading back to Cape Town from the Sharks.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Stormers confirmed that the two-time World Cup-winning Springbok captain will be joining the team at the conclusion of the season.
The move will allow Kolisi to be closer to his family and also make a meaningful contribution to the team where it all started for him after leaving school.
The iconic leader’s professional rugby journey started in Cape Town after he left school and he is now poised to add to his 118 Stormers caps.
Having made his debut in 2012, Kolisi was appointed captain in 2017 before taking up the same position for the national team the following year. He went on to lift the Rugby World Cup in 2019 and would do so again in 2023.
Kolisi left the Stormers for the Sharks in early 2021 before joining Racing 92 after the 2023 World Cup.
However, his stay in France was shortlived and he rejoined the Sharks in 2024.

Stormers Rugby CEO Johan le Roux said that he is delighted to welcome Kolisi back.
“Siya is a national icon who has such a strong connection to our team and our supporters. He is also a family man who wants to be there for his children as much as possible.”
“These are values that resonate with our club and given the significance of our heritage in defining where we want to go, we are very happy to welcome Siya back to hopefully see out his career in the jersey he wore when it started.
