VIDEO: BlitzBoks aim to be 'clinical' to set up title defence
REACTION: BlitzBoks head coach Philip Snyman won’t be taking France lightly when they meet in the semifinals of the Cape Town SVNS on Sunday.
The BlitzBoks won the opening three matches of their home tournament against Fiji, New Zealand and Great Britain to advance to the knock-out stages in the Cape Town leg of the Sevens Series.
The hosts enter the contest as defending champions and will come up against their 2024 Finals opponent, France, in the Cup semifinal (12.22 local time – GMT + 2 hours).
Snyman said that despite defeating France in Dubai last week, he expects them to bring something different and should be more clinical than they were on Day One if they are to advance to the Final for two years consecutively.
The article continues below…
“They [France] will be bringing something different.
“One thing I can guarantee is that they’ll definitely be up for the match against us, and it wouldn’t be the same as last week [in Dubai].
“We can’t just take [the semifinal] for granted, thinking it will be the same as last week just because we defeated them in Dubai.
“They will come out for us. They’re a quality outfit, but we’ll make sure that we plan [accordingly] for them and ensure everyone is on the same page.
“If we can have the same effort and attitude and be a lot more clinical, we’ll give ourselves a fighting chance to get to the Final.”
