VIDEO: Kolisi makes stunning gesture in support of Springbok women star

Watch as Springbok captain Siya Kolisi shows his support for Springbok women’s star Babalwa Latsha following her recent contract renewal with Harlequins.

In a video on social media, Kolisi congratulated Latsha on her contract extension with Premiership side Harlequins and labelled her as a warrior.

He thanked her for contributing to the women’s game and urged her to continue breaking boundaries.

Springbok Women’s captain Latsha joined Quins in early 2023, and quickly established herself as a regular in the matchday 23. A powerful presence both sides of the ball as well as an inspirational figure off the pitch, Latsha has become a fan favourite at The Stoop, scoring eight tries in her 24 appearances for the club.

Latsha is joined by fellow Springbok Women teammate Danelle Lochner, who also agreed to a new contract at the Harlequins.

Lochner came to rugby relatively late in life having enjoyed a successful stint as an international netball player.  However, her growth and development in rugby have propelled her to being one of the form locks in the league.

A naturally talented athlete, Lochner made her Quins debut against Sale Sharks Women in November 2023 and has played all 15 league matches since.

Harlequins forwards coach Steve Halsey said: “Having these two world-class players renew their contracts is fantastic news for our club. They’re both great people and play in a way that aligns with our club DNA and contributes to our game style.

“BB is a great person to have in our environment. She is a world-class prop and an amazing person and role model to other players in our squad. Her hard work and dedication has translated into some great performances at scrum time, alongside her powerful ball-carrying and strong defence.

“Danelle’s progress this season has been outstanding and I’m very pleased that she’s decided to stay in our environment to continue her rugby development. I’m excited to see how far she can continue to improve her game, she’s worked hard to become a real competitor in our pack, and will continue to develop and add further strengths to her game.”
