Kolisi has been dominating the headlines over the last few days after it was reported that he is negotiating an early release from his contract with French club Racing 92.

The Sharks seem to be in pole position to bring him back to Durban.

During Tuesday’s team announcement press conference ahead of the start of the Rugby Championship, Erasmus said nothing was finalised, but he supported Kolisi’s decision to return to the country.

“We actually didn’t want him back, but his agent kept on nagging,” Erasmus joked.

He added: “When we heard he wants to come back, it was obviously an out-and-out Sharks decision and we will obviously back it up.

“When they asked us, we supported it 100 percent.

“They [Sharks] will officially announce it.

“They asked us to join the conversation on whether we want him back and the answer was yes.

“It is nice to have your captain in your country, but I am not quite sure how far the deal is or when it will be announced.

“But yes, we know about it and we are happy about it.”

Kolisi will captain the Springboks in Saturday’s Rugby Championship opener against the Wallabies in Brisbane.
