VIDEO: Why Roos has to undergo surgery
It is official. Evan Roos will not play again this year.
The seven-times capped Springbok will undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him for six months.
The 24-year-old confirmed, on the latest episode of the Boks Office podcast, that he will undergo surgery and miss the rest of the year.
“I have to sort it out,” he said of the surgery.
“I don’t know what I am going to do with myself for six months,” he added.
The loose forward said Stormers Director of Rugby John Dobson is not happy with the decision.
He said he received an expletive-filled message from Dobson at midnight on Monday

His response, the next morning, was: ‘Morning Dobbo, I hope you had a good weekend’.
“I then gave him all the facts,” Ross explained.
“The doctor said if I continue playing, it will create much bigger problems in the long run.”
The loose forward decided to ‘sacrifice’ the next six months and get it sorted.
“It doesn’t help that I play with an injury and I am not playing to what I feel I can bring to the table.”
He added that while it was bearable, at some stage it just became too painful.
Now that he knows what the risk is, he won’t do it again and get it sorted much earlier.
