VIDEO: Gatland's woes continues ahead of 2025 Six Nations

Wales head into the 2025 Six Nations campaign with a massive concern as captain Dewi Lake undergoes surgery.

Lake had bicep surgery that is set to keep him on the sidelines for three months.

The hooker sustained the injury during training with the Ospreys before Christmas, head coach Mark Jones revealed.

Wales open their Six Nations tournament against France in Paris on January 31 and finish at home against England on March 15.

However, Jones said there is a chance Lake, who is also in contention for British & Irish Lions selection, will be fit before that.

“I think 12 weeks was the high end of it,” Jones said of the player’s expected recovery time.

“We know the operation went well; there is nothing to suggest he can’t beat that target.

“I know Dewi and the quality of the rehabilitation out there now. He has an awesome mindset and is a great professional.

“I texted him over Christmas and he is set on getting that as low as he can.”

The news is certainly a major setback for Warren Gatland’s side, who are on their worst-ever run of 12 consecutive defeats.
