Wales suffer huge blow ahead of Boks and NZ visit
DISCIPLINARY UPDATE: Wales will be without the services of one of their most experienced outside backs ahead of their Nations Series matches against New Zealand and South Africa.
Wales No.11, Josh Adams, appeared before an independent disciplinary committee having received a red card for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.11 in the match between Wales and Japan on Saturday, November 15.
The independent disciplinary committee was chaired by Jeremy Summers (England), joined by Stefan Terblanche (South Africa) and Val Toma (Romania)
The disciplinary committee has upheld the red card issued to the player and, by applying World Rugby’s sanctioning provisions, has determined that the mid-range entry point of six weeks/matches was appropriate.
In light of the player accepting he committed an act of foul play as well as other mitigating factors, they have applied the maximum 50% reduction in sanction, thus reducing the final sanction to three weeks/matches.
The suspension will cover the following match(es):
- November 22 2025: Wales v New Zealand (Nations Series)
- November 29: Wales v South Africa (Nations Series)
- December 6: Stade Français vs Cardiff (EPCR Challenge Cup)
*Adams has additionally been permitted to apply to take part in World Rugby’s Coaching Intervention Programme to substitute the final match of their sanction, which is aimed at modifying specific techniques and technical issues that contributed to the foul play.
