Ntubeni raring to go

The return from injury of Western Province star hooker Siyabonga Ntubeni will be the catalyst that coach Allister Coetzee will be looking for as his team hope to bounce back against the Griquas.

Province succumbed to a flattering 33-35 defeat against the impressive Golden Lions last Saturday, scoring two late tries to add respectability to the score.

For Coetzee and his men there is now a chance to bounce back against the Griquas, who recorded a hard-fought victory against the Pumas (31-27).

Ntubeni had a bit of an extended run on his return from injury with starting WP hooker Stephan Coetzee hurting his ankle 30 minutes into the Lions clash.

"I feel very good, obviously I was a bit nervous in those 60 minutes [against the Lions last week]," Ntubeni said of his return from a lengthy lay-off.

"I was well prepped though and things went well, except for the end result – otherwise I am feeling really good."

Ntubeni tweaked his calf muscle in a training session after their Round One victory over the Eastern Province Kings, it was said that he would be out for a minimum of two weeks – however, extra precaution was taken by the medical staff.

That is why I was out for so long, the medical start really wanted to make sure that when I got back I was back for good not just for a game or two," the hooker added

"I am feeling confident now."

Ntubeni has said that his immediate focus is to get back to the form that won him a place in last year's November Test squad – where he was merely a tourist.

"For the meantime, I am just looking to find my feet again to build some momentum and play some good rugby," Ntubeni concluded.

"If I get there [to his best form] again I will see what happens at the end of the year."
