No half measure

British and Irish Lions fullback Leigh Halfpenny set records for most points in a Test and a series for the British and Irish Lions, surpassing fellow Welshman Neil Jenkins' haul of 41 points in the 1997 series against South Africa.

Coming into the deciding test with 28 points from the opening two tests, the Welsh kicker scored 21 points in the series-clinching 41-16 win in Sydney to take his total to 49 in three Tests – individual Lions records for a Test match and a series.

Halfpenny kicked five penalties and three conversions to take the individual Test mark from English great Jonny Wilkinson, who scored 20 points against Argentina in 2005 and Stephen Jones' tally in the second Test against South Africa in 2009.

Halfpenny also equalled the record for most penalty goals in a British and Irish Lions Test series, successfully converting 13 attempts to draw level with Jenkins' total in 1997.

All of Halfpenny's series points came from his radar-like right boot, with the fullback kicking 13 points in the first Test in Brisbane, before scoring 15 points in last week's second Test in Melbourne.

Announced player of the series, Halfpenny also set up two of the Lions' second-half tries giving the final ball for Jonathon Sexton's and compatriot George North's tries as the Lions racked up their highest ever Test total.

The Lions previous highest score was 31 points against Australia in 1966.
