Van Wyk ruled out for the season

Blue Bulls front rower Hencus van Wyk has been ruled out for six months after undergoing ankle surgery and will miss the rest of the Currie Cup.

Van Wyk picked up the injury in his side's 23-18 loss to Western Province in the fourth round of the competition.

Team doctor Org Strauss confirmed there were no casualties in the Bulls ranks follwing their 36-26 win over the Golden Lions.

Ulrich Beyers and Nardus van der Walt sat out training on Monday due to illness while Dean Greyling (ankle) and Callie Visagie (groin) are set to resume training on Tuesday.

Jesse Kriel and Morne Mellet are expected to return next week from their respective ankle and knee injuries.

Van Wyk joins Jurgen Visser, Pierre Spies, Arno Botha, Frik Kirsten, Jaco Visagie and Flip van der Merwe who remain on the long-term casualty list.
