The Best Rugby Apps for 2026 and Beyond

2026 is set to be a huge year for rugby union. From the Six Nations to the inaugural edition of the World Rugby Nations Championship, we’re set to see lots of huge clashes in the run-up to the 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup.

But, with so many matches taking place in so many different timezones, keeping up with all of the action can be difficult. For this reason, getting the best rugby app possible is essential. With this in mind, here are our favourite rugby apps for 2026 and beyond…

#1 The RugbyPass App

In our opinion, the RugbyPass app (available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play) is the best rugby app available. This is because it offers something for everyone, including live scores, the latest news, video highlights, data supported by Opta and even original programming and documentaries.

Whether you’re looking to stream live matches, watch exclusive shows, binge documentaries, read breaking news stories or just look at what fixtures are coming up this weekend, the RugbyPass app can cater to your needs – it’s a great all-rounder.

#2 HSBC SVNS

Like the shorter and faster version of the sport? Well, if you love rugby sevens, the official HSBC SVNS app (available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play) is the one for you.

The app allows you to follow the best men’s and women’s international rugby sevens teams throughout the year as they battle for the HSBC SVNS World Championship title.

You can get all of the latest news from the HSBC SVNS tournament, stay up-to-date with every try, tackle and conversion in real time, watch highlights and see a full calendar of fixtures. Plus, you can also get tailored notifications so you’re guaranteed to never miss any of the action that’s important to you.

#3 BBC Sport

If you’re a rugby fan in the UK, the BBC Sport app is also a great option. Like the RugbyPass app, BBC Sport offers all of the latest news, live scores and upcoming fixtures. Plus, the UK-based broadcaster is also able to show highlights from the Premiership, the Six Nations Championship and the European Cup.

However, unlike RugbyPass, BBC Sport doesn’t offer exclusive shows or in-depth documentaries. Similarly, the app is Northern Hemisphere focused and highlights are unavailable outside the UK. So, if you’re not based in the United Kingdom, it’s unlikely to be the best app for you.

Similarly, it’s also worth mentioning here that the BBC Sport app isn’t rugby specific. So, although it has the opinions of world-class journalists and scores are always up-to-date, rugby news and information is mixed in with other sports.

#4 Flashscore

If you’re primarily looking for live scores, upcoming fixtures and breaking news stories, then the Flashscore app is also a great choice.

You can read exclusive news stories, check out key moments from important fixtures and even track player ratings. Like the BBC Sports app, the Flashscore app isn’t rugby specific, so it’s a good option if you’re looking for surface-level information but you need to be aware that it doesn’t quite give you the depth you’d receive from RugbyPass.

That being said, if you like another sport, such as football/soccer, it could be an advantage to have all of the matches you’re monitoring in one space. So you get a notification from the same app regardless of whether your football team of choice scores a goal or your favourite rugby team scores a try.

#5 Union Live

The Union Live app was built by rugby fans, for rugby fans. Particularly popular with those who live in the Southern Hemisphere, the app provides great coverage of top-tier clashes, including play-by-play match commentary and detailed stat sheets. Plus, you can follow the progress of your club and your favourite players throughout the Super Rugby season.

That said, although there’s a lot to love about the Union Live app, users and reviewers in the Northern Hemisphere don’t believe that the coverage of competitions such as the Six Nations is of the same standard as it is for tournaments like Super Rugby. Added to this, others say that the app can be slow to update on some occasions, so it’s difficult to follow live scores accurately.

There you have it, the top five rugby apps for 2026 and beyond. We think RugbyPass offers the best rugby app, and it’s completely free. But let us know which one is your favourite in the comments.
