Kaplan to referee the Currie Cup final

Number 3

Unsurprisingly Jonathan Kaplan is to referee Saturday's Currie Cup final in Bloemfontein when the Cheetahs, the holders of the Currie Cup, play the Blue Bulls.

This will be Kaplan's third Currie Cup final. It is always a great occasion, as he will tell anybody who asks – a very, very special feeling.

The touch judges will be the two referees who refereed the semi-finals – Marius Jonker and JC Fortuin.

Shaun Veldsman, who has been suffering from a knee injury and the effects of an operation, all year will be the television match official, a post he has held  far more often than any other South African.

There will in all be four finals on Saturday, each one of them involving a Blue Bulls side – and they have already won the Women's final. Three are in Bloemfontein and the fourth, the Amateur Provincial, in Potchefstroom.

The match officials for the final day of domestic rugby in South Africa are:
