Davidson to become first Scottish referee to reach 50 Tests
NEWS: Scottish referee Hollie Davidson is set to reach a major career milestone during the Nations Championship Series in July after being appointed to her 50th Test match.
World Rugby confirmed its match official appointments for the 18-match tournament on Thursday, with Davidson scheduled to take charge of the clash between Fiji and England in Liverpool on 11 July.
The appointment will see Davidson become the first Scottish official to referee 50 Tests and only the third female referee in history to reach the landmark, following South Africa’s Aimee Barrett-Theron and England’s Matthew Carley, who are also set to achieve the feat during 2026.
A total of 16 referees from eight nations will oversee the Nations Championship fixtures between 4 and 18 July, with New Zealand’s Ben O’Keeffe and Australia’s Nic Berry each handed two appointments.
England’s Luke Pearce will referee the opening match of the tournament when New Zealand host France in Christchurch on 4 July, while Australia’s Angus Gardner will take charge of the final fixture of the series between Argentina and England in Santiago del Estero on 18 July.
In total, 35 match officials from 11 nations will be involved across the tournament.
