Minumum Requirements to Referee

SA Referees have again sent out a reminder of the minimum requirements/qualifications for a referee to referee a rugby match in South Africa in 2015.

These requirements have been in effect since 1 January 2015 and are still effective.

The referee should

* preferably be a member of a Provincial or Schools Referee Society

* have attended and completed the BokSmart Course (accredited)

* have attended and completed an World Rugby Level 1 Officiating Course (Certified)

SA Referees have a warning that goes with this: Any official and /or Union, Institution or School who allows anybody to officiate as a referee who does not meet the above requirements could be held responsible should any legal action be instituted against such individuals.

SA Referees asks all provincial referees' societies to distribute this reminder to all rugby-playing schools and clubs. All societies are formally required receipt of the reminder and their undertaking to disseminate the reminder.
