Owens to Referee EPCR's Main Final
Nigel Owens has, unsurprisingly, been appointed to the main one.
On Friday, 12 May 2017, the Challenge Cup finals will be played with Johnny Lacey to referee.
On Saturday, 13 May 2017, there are two finals – the Continental Shield final between two Russian teams with Mike Adamson to referee and then the Champions Cup Final to be refereed by Owens. By chance this will also be Owens's 100th match in European cup rugby.
This will be Owens's third successive final after refereeing a quarterfinals and a semifinal this season.
Owens turns 46 this year and has refereed more Test matches than anybody else in the history of the game – 76 in all, surpassing Jonathan Kaplan's previous record of 70. Last year Owens refereed the World Cup final.
