Referees to 1 July 2012

By Paul Dobson
Tuesday 26 Jun 2012

The so-called international window has closed now and Europe's international teams have gone back home, lots with tails between legs. Referees have also gone home, though not all for there are still important matches around the world.

For Lourens van der Merwe of South Africa this is a really big year – his first Super Rugby match, the Junior World Championship and now his first Test when he goes to Gaberone over the weekend. He is clearly a young referee climbing the ladder.

Romanian referee Vlad Iordachescu will referee the Final of the Junior World Trophy between the USA and Japan, the winner of which will be promoted to the Junior World Championship.

In South Africa the Currie Cup's Division 1 starts, the second division of the Currie Cup..
