Referees appointed to 29 Tests

To end of November

The International Rugby Board's selection committee to appoint match officials met in Dublin and announced the match officials for 29 Tests between 28 October and 26 November.

These Tests include World Cup qualifiers and a first tour to Europe by the Pacific Islanders.

The press release states: There are no changes to the IRB International Referees Panel, however, Jonathan Kaplan (South Africa) has not been appointed to any November internationals as he is undergoing minor surgery.

The surgery is to Kaplan's knees.

The match official appointments for the 2007 RBS 6 Nations Championship will be announced in the first week of December following the conclusion of the 29 Test matches in October and November.

Clearly this is an important time for referees with ambitions to be in the smaller group of referees to referee the World Cup next year.
