Habana, who boasts the South African try-scoring record of 67, was sidelined with a knee injury in 2017 and announced that he will retire from the game at the end of Toulon's current season. 

However, as it turns out, he was informed in April that he will no longer play any further par tin Toulon's season and, as he states for the first time in the public domain, he is set to undergo further surgery on the knee he injured in 2017.
