They were outplayed in all areas of the game en route to a 7-54 defeat.

See below for the Player Ratings:

15 Melvyn Jaminet
After a poor start, his experience started to show towards the latter stages of the game. He was exposed on defence on a few occasions, but he made up for it with a bit of French flair out wide. A great try in the 65th minute was evidence of this.
5.5/10

14 Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkins
The Highlanders’ speedster can be proud of his performance in Cape Town. He produced a great turnover in the third minute before showing his speed to catch Kurt-Lee Arendse in the 35th minute. He looked dangerous when he had the ball, and he constantly looked for work around the park
6/10

13 Leicester Fainga’anuku
It was a match where you just wanted him to show his wide range of skills, but it was few and far between. He produced a couple of great offloads on attack, and he had some great hands in the build-up to Jaminet’s try.
5/10

12 Peter Umaga-Jensen
He was a big presence in the midfield, and that’s why the BaaBaas needed to get more ball to him. There were some big hits on defence, and it just seemed like he was enjoying the occasion against the Springboks.
5/10

11 Mark Telea
The All Black speedster’s time with ball in hand was limited. However, when he got it, he showed some nice touches. He definitely had a tough time marking Cheslin Kolbe.
5/10

10 Josh Jacomb
The Chiefs flyhalf had a nervy game. It showed when he fumbled a simple high ball in the eighth minute. He had a great run in the 42nd minute but ruined it with an erratic pass. The experience against the World Champions is what matters the most.
4.5/10

9 Tawera Kerr-Barlow
The All Black didn’t have a lot of ball to work with when he was on the field. The BaaBass looked better when he took the ball up with his big frame. His kicking was better than Jacomb’s display.
5/10

8 Shannon Frizell
He is someone the All Blacks could use in the upcoming Test season. The big man didn’t get a lot of the ball, but when he did, he was a hard man to bring down.
5.5/10

7 Sam Cane
His pack was on the back foot for most of the game, but it looked like he just loved every minute. He didn’t back down in the physical exchanges, especially on defence. He was eventually replaced early in the second half.
5.5/10

6 Peter O’Mahony (captain)
The Irish legend made the Boks sweat a bit in the physical exchanges. He wouldn’t be happy with himself after he bought an outrageous dummy by Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu. However, he showed his experience by stealing the ball from a Bok maul in the 32nd minute.
5/10

5 David Ribbans
He went into battle with some big Bok forwards, and he has the bruisers to show for it. A huge tackle on Cobus Reinach in the 60th minute was probably his biggest highlight.
5.5/10

4 Ruben van Heerden
Being a Stormer and playing at his home ground, the big man had a big spotlight on him. He can be proud of his performance. He had a few big carries, and he put his body on the line on defence. He also showed his power by stopping a powerful Bok maul in the 45th minute.
6.5/10

3 Paul Alo-Emile
He struggled against Ox Nche in the scrums for most of the first half. Things settled a bit as the half went on, but it was still a mountain climb against a powerful Bok pack.
4.5/10

2 Camille Chat
A week wasn’t long enough for him to build a strong relationship with his locks. The Springboks stole a number of his line-out balls, but he showed some great aggression with ball in hand.
4.5/10

1 Cian Healy
He was pumped up for the occasion, and he kicked things off with a great charge down. The legend faced off with Asenathi Ntlabakanye in the scrums and he just didn’t have the power behind him to trouble the newcomer. The BaaBaas’ scrum got better in the latter stages of the first half.

5.5/10

Replacements

16 Ricky Riccitelli
A livewire as always, but it was not enough to turn the tide in Cape Town.
4.5/10

17 Hassane Kolingar
He provided some much-needed muscle in the pack, but it was too little, too late when he came onto the field.
6/10

18 Will Collier
The BaaBaas scrum was more stable when he was on the field.
5/10

19 Josh Beehre
To face some of the best locks in the world would have been a great experience for the young Blues lock. He didn’t light up the world, but it was a solid performance.
4/10

20 Hoskins Sotutu
The BaaBaas were probably hoping for a physical boost from him, but it just never came.
4/10

21 Santiago Arata
The Uruguayan was the best of the replacements. The BaaBaas’ attack had a bit more speed and direction when he had the ball in his hands.
6.5/10

22 Joe Marchant
It was a very quiet cameo off the bench. Maybe he should’ve got more game time.
4/10

23 Lachlan Boshier
He received a yellow card for a head-on-head tackle not long after he came on. When he returned to the field, he got stuck into the thick of things with not much success.
4/10
