Ulster returned to United Rugby Championship action with a 27-15 bonus-point win over Scarlets in Belfast last Friday.

Vermeulen, 35, was one of the stand-out players – with a match-high eight carries, 11 tackles and two turnovers.

The 61-times capped Bok was in demand, being invited to the local broadcasters’ post-match analyses.

With the local commentators standing in warm jackets, long pants and gloves on the Ravenhill Stadium pitch, Vermeulen arrived in his shorts, a T-shirt and barefooted – to the amazement of his interviewers.

Asking him about his attire and barefooted appearance, Vermeulen quipped: “I must say I’m pretty comfortable!”
