Piet Heymans, CEO of the Sports Employers Unite, and Mandisi Tshonti, General Manager Player Affairs – MyPlayers & SARPA, unpack the ever-worsening financial situation – which has forced the Lions to start retrenching players.

Heymans spoke of the bad corporate governance and the way unions have just “plastered over the cracks”. Now realism is hitting home and drastic measures are required. He also explains how there are no consequences for elected officials, who often walk away from the messes they create.

He told @rugby365com how some unions kept ignoring the King III Report on Corporate Governance for companies in South Africa.

Tshonti explains how they are working with the Lions to make the retrenchment process a lot less painful for the players.

@King365ed and @LoffieEloff also look back at the past weekend’s Test matches and look forward to another weekend of intriguing November internationals.
