Team of the week: A cut above the rest

Those two teams have three players each in our XV after they recorded big wins over the Western Force and Bulls respectively.

The Jaguares have two players in our team after their win against the Reds. The Stormers, Cheetahs, Melbourne Rebels, Sharks, Southern Kings, Lions and Bulls have one player each in our selection.

In the back three, we have Dillyn Leyds, Matt Duffie and Melani Nanai, while our midfield picks are Francois Venter and Reece Hodge.

Curwin Bosch is our pick at flyhalf with Jaguares' Gonzalo Bertranou at No.9.

In the pack we have Jerome Kaino, Andisa Ntsila and Jaco Kriel in the back row. The Crusaders duo of Samuel Whitelock and Luke Romano are our choices in the second row.

In the front row, we have Owen Franks, Agustin Creevy and Lizo Gqoboka.

Team of the Week – Round Five:

15 – Dillyn Leyds (Stormers)

He looked good with ball in hand at the back and made some telling runs to the line against the Sunwolves.

14 – Matt Duffie (Blues)

He was amazing against the Bulls out wide and he scored two tries as well.

13 – Francois Venter (Cheetahs)

His work rate was second to none in the midfield this weekend. He broke through a number of tackles and scored a try as well.

12 – Reece Hodge (Melbourne Rebels)

The Wallaby scored 20 of his team's 25 points against the Waratahs, including two tries.

11 – Melani Nanai (Blues)

He was deadly on attack and he made over 160 running metres with ball in hand against the Bulls. He also crossed the whitewash in the win.

10 – Curwin Bosch (Sharks)

The youngster played a big role in the Sharks' win over the Cheetahs. He contributed 18 points with the boot and marshalled his backline well in Bloemfontein.

9 – Gonzalo Bertranou (Jaguares)

His decision-making at the breakdown gave the Jaguares a distinct advantage over the Reds and his distribution was excellent once again.

The All Black was brilliant in the physical exchanges against the Bulls. He also put in some big hits on defence.

7 – Andisa Ntsila (Southern Kings)

The 23-year-old caught the eye with some silky skills out wide and he made a nuisance of himself at the breakdowns against the Lions.

He was immense in open play again against the Southern Kings. He also bagged himself a try as well.

5 – Samuel Whitelock (Crusaders)

He produced another outstanding performance in the engine room for the Crusaders.

4 – Luke Romano (Crusaders)

He carried the ball like a monster against the Western Force and he was solid in the line-outs as well.

3 – Owen Franks (Crusaders)

He complemented his strong scrummaging performance with a high work rate in open play against the Western Force.

2 – Agustin Creevy (Jaguares)

The Pumas captain proved why he is one of the best players in the world. He put his body on the line on defence and showed his power and skill in open play against the Reds.

He impressed with ball in hand in a losing causing against the Blues. He also scored one of his team's two tries.
