Hero status for scintillating Simelane
A panel of experts, headed by Elma Smit awarded the outstanding player the award after he continuously broke the South Western Districts' defence for a personal points tally of 29 points, that included a hat-trick and a further 14 points with his pin-point accurate kicking boot.
The prestigious Coca-Cola Hero of the Day award is presented on each day of the tournament in recognition of a game changing 'hero' moment.
"It was not the main purpose to win the Coca-Cola Hero of the Day, the main purpose was to win the game and to play in one of the main games on Thursday but I am blessed to win the award," Simelane said.
Head panelist, Smit, shared the sentiments of everyone who witnessed the fantastic performance.
"A big congratulations to Wandisile on his selection as the Coca-Cola Hero of the Day. His ability to find gaps in the opposition defense resulted in his team's victory in their first game of the Craven Week," she said.
