Affies in another tough one

They have already played five teams on the FNB Top 20 and given a good account of themselves in all of them. They lost to the three teams in the top three positions – in the last minute to Grey and also to Paarl Boys' High and Paarl Gim by few points and quite a bit of controversy. They also lost to Paul Roos. In all they have played five of their nine matches against Top 20 sides.

KES are unbeaten in their nine matches but their opposition have been much less demanding., The only Top 20 team they have played is Waterkloof whom they beat 28-25.

The match this week is at Affies. Their losses to Grey, Paarl Boys' High and Paarl Gim were all away from home. Home ground may make a difference, not that altitude were unduly affect KES who will be going down to Pretoria.

In the nine matches each has played this season, none has been against common opponents. But that KES is ranked above Affies at the moment suggests that this could be a close contest.

In all there are 22 rugby matches between the two schools on Saturday. That means nearly 700 boys in action!

Affies have the same backline as the one which played so well against Grey. There are two changes in the back. Jordan Swemmer comes up off the bench into lock and Wihan Bezuidenhout moves across the front row to loosehead  with Michael de Waal in at tighthead. It is a team that has already proved its worth.

The same is less sure about KES.
