Battle for Pretoria
There was a Battle for Pretoria on Wednesday when the elections were on and there is another Battle for Pretoria on Saturday when the two top-ranked schools in the city meet on the rugby field.
At present the FNB Top 20 has Menlopark ranked fourth, Waterkloof fifth. They are close geographically and close in rugby achievement.
Waterkloof – Klofies to those who know them – have played nine matches. They lost their first two – to Sentraal of Bloemfontein and Paarl Gim – and then got into their stride beating Affies, Glenwood, Paul Roos and Grey PE, all Top 20 sides.
Menlo had an early rugby lesson from Grey Bloem, but then won their next seven matches, including victories over Paarl Gim and Grey PE.
Their opponents in common are Paarl Gim and Grey PE.
Menlopark beat Paarl Gim 22-18; Waterkloof lost to Paarl Gim 24-10
