Ben Vorster - Mitch Mametsa

Captain Mitch Mametsa is full of experience playing in his third year of first team as well as having Grant Khomo and Craven Week experience behind him.

Mametsa's experience has been key to the Ben Vorster team who are mainly youngsters in their first year at the top of the school.

"Our team is very young and inexperienced, but our big hearts make up for it," he said.

"We’ve got a few injuries, here and there, but the next player is just as good.

As a captain of a young squad, Mametsa gets on with his role as a hooker but also does everything he can as a captain.

"I do my primary job as a hooker well and I keep my team motivated at all times," he added.

"It is a honour and I feel I have a very big responsibility on and off the field."

The FNB Classic Clash between Ben Vorster and Pietersburg has always been a tightly contested one, as the captain explains.

"It is competitive every year but Hoërskool Ben Vorster has been on top for the past few years," the captain said.

"It is not going to be easy, they are always well prepared and have home ground advantage.

"I don’t want to put unnecessary  pressure on my team, so I tell them to relax and stay focused like we do with every other game."
