Bishops & St Andrew's in ancient rivalry

They are both Anglican private schools, both founded in the middle of the 19th century, one in the East and one in the West, and they meet at Bishops on Monday afternoon in a match that dates back to 1896.

The rivalry between the two schools has forever been a lively one. They are the same sort of people who play rugby in the same sort of constructive way.

Both schools have good sides this year and would seem to be evenly matched. The Bishops side started slowly as they still believe in cricket and an April start to rugby, but they are going to be a good side. Both sides played in the Wynberg Festival on Saturday and both had big wins – St Andrew's over SACS, Bishops over Hugenote. Both sides have lost a match, in each case to strong sides.

This could just be the most enjoyable match of 2014.
