Boishaai win in Japan

Paarl Boys' High had a strong win in the opening day of the  Sanix  World Rugby Youth Invitational Tournament in Fukuoka, Japan.  They beat Tokai University Gyosei of Osaka, regarded as an especially strong Japanese school, 38-7.

It was wet in the Global Arena where the match was played but still the Paarl boys played positive, running rugby. They scored early on when a line-out gave them a five-metre line-out. Ruben de Villiers won the line-out and scored the first try. 5-0.

The second try was not long in coming when De Villiers won the opposition's throw into a line-out, Philip Bester broke and gave to Curtley Grain who scored un]=deer the posts. Ryan Leafier converted. 12-0.

From the kick-off, Boys' High knocked on, Tokai University Gyosei won the scrum and their left wing scored in the corner. 12-7.

Boys' High soon recovered and from a scrum Wian Gouws scored. 19-7.

Heinrich Möller broke well but a lost ball gave them a scrum. But Boys' High won the scrum and Christo Mostert scored. 26-7, which was the half-time score.

There was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing in the second half till Boys' High took a tighthead and Paul de Wet went blind and scored. The conversion made it 33-7.

There is a liberal use of substitutes and it was one of them, Jan-Louis le Grange, who broke spectacularly and scored. 38-7.

The opponents for Tuesday's match  are a local school, Chikushi, who gave Pucheonbuk of Korea a hiding on Monday.
