Bye bye Beeld; hello Virseker
Virseker is, as the name suggests, a comprehensive insurance company.
Part of the Virseker plan with Kyknet is that matches will be broadcast, including matches in the Small School division.
More than 180 schools will take part, meaning some 800 teams.
There are five categories of the schools taking part.
Macro: 600 or more boys
Big: 351-599 boys
Medium: 176-350 boys
Middle: More than 15 boys but few rugby players
Small: 175 boys or fewer
North of the Vaal River, right up to the Limpopo, schools have long played in competitions. It started with the Transvaal Cup in 1920. Then came the AG Robertson Cup (1922-1933), the Administrator's Cup (1934-1981), The Director's Trophy (1982-1994) and then the Beeld Trophy (1995-2016).
