Captain's profile: A Gaobonwe
HTS Potchefstroom scrumhalf Amogelang Gaobonwe said it was a privilege being named captain ahead of his side's Classic Clash with rivals Potch Boys High.
The 19-year-old feels that the honour will give him the added confidence to do the hard work for is team in what is likely to be a tough encounter.
"Being named captain makes me feel brave enough to endure all the challenges with and for my team and staying humble at all times.
"As a captain I will always act in a way that will benefit my team and to set a good example and lead from the front," said Gaobonwe.
The matriculant believes there will be nothing to choose between the sides on Saturday and feels the result will come down to wants it the most.
"The two schools share a very good bond and have been competing in the Classic Clash for the past 10 years.
"Each year it is a competitive game and the outcome is unpredictable. The team who gives it their all is the team who will reap the fruit at the end of the day," Gaobonwe added.
Gaobonwe describes his strengths as a player and captain as one that knows how to accept challenges and disappointments and with his side not exactly on top of their game this season, his message to his teammates is a simple one.
"You have to give it your all, but most importantly enjoy the game and remember that practice makes perfect," he said.
Gaobonwe is clearly proud to represent is school with the highlight of his career so far is that he has represented the first team for the past two years now.
Playing rugby is Gaobonwe's dream and passion and he is determined to play professionally one day.
