Captain's profile: Armandt Kruger

Hoerskool Randburg take on bitter rivals Hoerskool Linden in a Classic Clash on Saturday and Randburg skipper Armandt Kruger is expecting a physical battle.

"Linden will come at us full force. It is always a very physical battle up front," said Kruger.

Kruger plays the pivotal role of No.8 for his team and said being named captain of the first XV is something that means a lot to him.

"I feel honoured, and it is a huge privilege being named captain.

"It is something that truly means a lot to me."

The skipper, who stands in at 182 cm and weighs 82kg, has represented the Randburg first XV for two years, bringing valuable experience to his side.

"I never give up and will do anything for the team.

"I lead by example."

The make-up of the Randburg team is full of experienced players and is at full-strength. Kruger, however says the game will always be a tightly contested one between these two rivals.

"It is a very close call as to who will be lifting the trophy this year. The previous two years has been quite even."

His message to the Randburg side is: "If you give one hundred percent for the badge and your brother next to you on the field, there is no way we end up as the losers."

Kruger plans to head to University in the future to study a BComm, and has dreams of being a professional rugby player using Varsity Cup as a platform.
